Job Summary:

Move the company from reactive to proactive in detecting and preventing wrongdoing. Simplify the certification or approval of products (market authorization) and ensure that we regularly apply and document good engineering practices for product safety and reliability, adding value to our products and services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • You are the internal point of contact for compliance-related questions on our product portfolio for both plastic and non-plastic items
  • You facilitate the set-up of declarations of compliance for customers, and you will review documentation from suppliers
  • You follow up closely so every product in our range complies with the applicable legislation and correct retroactively missing compliance work on existing articles
  • You will have an advisory role for compliance questions
  • You are responsible for the implementation of the data management system for product compliance documentation (FOCOS)
  • You will review the current product compliance workflows and try to continuously improve and adjust those workflows
  • You will set up or adjust clear guidelines/workflow to streamline the product compliance workflow
  • You regularly organize proactive training sessions to communicate these new workflows or new legislation to compliance participants
  • You setup a global compliance strategy and workflow so that a standardized way of working for product compliance is generated across our 3 factories (Belgium-Thailand-USA)
  • You will report to the General Counsel

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Law, Engineering or Product Development
  • Strong interest and/or experience in compliance management on mainly food contact materials (both plastic and non-plastic) but also to a certain extent hygienic products (cosmetic items such as refreshing towels and inner items for amenity kits, biocidal products such as disinfecting towels, PPE / medical devices such as mouth masks), food items (e.g. condiments), textiles (e.g. amenity kits), toys…)
  • Knowledge of EU and FDA legislation
  • Working accurately, structured and precisely is in your DNA
  • You are optimistic and have good communication skills (both internally with colleagues from various departments, and externally with suppliers) and complement this with a strong personality
  • You are eager to learn, self-taught (legislation is subject to change) and interested in product development of new technologies/materials
  • You have reactionary insight and can handle situations that are not standardized
  • You can work independently, and you can be critical with an eye for detail
